STEPS TO GET VISA SPONSORSHIP FROM A CANADIAN EMPLOYER

Submitting an incomplete application is one of the most common reasons for delays. IRCC returns incomplete applications, which can cost you several months. Complete every field carefully and consider using a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant for your first application.

Document misrepresentation is a serious offence. Under Section A40 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, misrepresentation results in a five-year ban from all Canadian immigration programs. Can I apply for a Canadian construction work visa without a job offer?

In most cases a job offer from a Canadian employer is required to obtain an LMIA-based work permit. However, certain PR streams such as Saskatchewan’s SINP Occupations In-Demand and Express Entry’s Federal Skilled Worker Program do not require a job offer if you have the right NOC code, CRS score, and qualifications. Having a job offer adds 50 to 200 CRS points to your Express Entry profile and significantly improves your chances in a draw.

How long does it take to get a Canadian work permit for construction?

The total timeline from an employer applying for an LMIA to a worker arriving in Canada is typically three to six months. LMIA processing takes three to ten weeks. Work permit processing takes four to sixteen weeks and varies by nationality. High-demand construction occupations such as electricians, crane operators, and boilermakers may qualify for expedited LMIA processing of ten business days.

Does a Canadian construction work permit lead to Permanent Residency?

Yes. Most employer-sponsored work permits create a clear pathway to PR. How much does it cost in total to immigrate to Canada as a construction worker?

Total costs for an individual applicant typically range from $3,000 to $8,000 CAD depending on whether you use a consultant. Key expenses are the work permit fee at $155 CAD, biometrics at $85 CAD, a medical exam at $200 to $450 CAD, police clearance at $50 to $200 CAD, the IELTS test at approximately $300 CAD, document authentication at $100 to $500 CAD, a WES assessment for degree holders at $200 to $350 CAD, and immigration consultant fees at $1,500 to $5,000 CAD if used. What healthcare benefits do foreign construction workers receive in Canada?
